Blog > How positive is your mind-set?
“It is your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude.” Zig Ziglar
Were there ever truer words said? We all know that having a positive mindset is fundamental to achieving success in both business and in life. But do you ever find that the rollercoaster ride of running your own business occasionally knocks you off course? Do you sometimes find those nagging doubts creeping in? Are you guilty of self sabotage? If so, read on…
Want to know the secrets of a winning mind-set?
You may have heard me say it before, but first and foremost you MUST have a clear vision for your business. Why? Because having a clear vision will help you overcome obstacles when they arise, maintain you positivity and keep you on track when the going gets tough!
Next you need to focus on the positive.!
Focus on the negative aspects of your life and guess what? You’ll attract the negative because it’s what you’ve come to expect! Start by setting positive intentions for yourself at the beginning of each day to help create that supportive and empowering mindset – try it for a week and see what difference it makes…
Practice gratitude.
A clear vision and goals are brilliant but don’t forget to acknowledge all the fabulous things you have in your life already! Remember that gratitude and a positive attitude attracts positive actions. Surround yourself with positive people. The people around you have a huge impact on how you think, so steer clear of those who drain you. Positivity and optimism are contagious – gravitate towards positive people, and you’ll brim with positivity and self confidence yourself!
My next winning strategy?
Less news and newspapers and more books and audios from the people who really inspire and motivate you – daily!
And one of my personal favourites for building (and maintaining!) that positive mind-set … exercise!…in a way that can fit into your daily routine.
Having a physical fitness routine in place to keep you emotionally healthy and tough is key. Combat the blues, boost your mood and give yourself that feel good factor. I live on a farm, so do my workouts in my ‘rural gym’ – running down the farm track and doing weights by lifting bales of hay when feed the horses, and of course a good round of mucking out. With a regular workout at the start of each day … you’ll be ready to tackle anything, trust me!
Finally, BELIEVE in yourself.
Remember the words of Zig Ziglar – you can be as successful as you want to be, it all stems from a positive mindset. After all, if you don’t believe in yourself, who else will?!
